Lesson Plans
In March, 2020, The National Council for the Social Studies issued Position Statement entitled Supporting Curricular Promotion and Intersectional Valuing of Women in History and Current Events. In anticipation of the Position Statement, Illinois State University facilitated an October, 2019 workshop for elementary teachers that provided informational sessions about critical views of women's history, Discipline-Based Art Education, and Teaching with Primary Sources. The participants also experienced opportunities to work in teams to develop lessons that applied the material learned in the informational sessions. In October 2020, a participant from the original workshop volunteered to utilize their knowledge from the presentation to facilitate a presentation for elementary grade teachers. The participants were able to collaborate as a group and create lesson plans.
